OZET: Duygusal ihmal ve istismar cocukluk caginda bircok farkli tavir ve davranisi iceren, ciddi ve sik gorulen bir cocukluk cagi istismaridir. Cocuk istismari ve ihmalinin cocuk uzerinde yarattigi fiziksel etkiler gecici olabilir, ancak gerek cinsel, fiziksel istismar ve ihmale eslik eden, gerekse tek basina olan duygusal istismarin psikolojik ve davranissal etkileri yasam boyu surebilir. Duygusal ihmal ve istismarin cogunlukla tek basina degil de diger istismarlarla (ozellikle fiziksel istismarla) birlikte olmasi ve onceligin diger istismar turlerine verilmesi, duygusal istismarin hem tanimlanmasinin hem de taninmasinin onune gecmektedir. Her saglam cocuk ya da hasta viziti, bakim veren ve cocuk arasindaki iliskiyi gozlemlemek ve ebeveynlik tekniklerini guclu ve zayif yonleriyle degerlendirmek icin bir firsattir. Saglik calisani duygusal istismar icin belirleyici olacak bu davranislara dikkat etmelidir. Ozellikle erken cocukluk doneminde cocuk doktorlari durumun saptanmasi ve mudahalenin yapilmasini saglayabilecek en onemli kisilerdir. Şupheli durumlarda cocugun korunmasi icin gerekli bildirimler vakit kaybetmeden yapilmali, duygusal ihmal ve istismarin siklikla diger ihmal ve istismar turlerine eslik ettigi unutulmamalidir. Cocuk koruma ekibiyle butuncul bir yaklasimla calisilmalidir. Child abuse and neglect may be temporary physical effects it has on children, however both emotional abuse alone or with physical, sexual abuse and neglect accompanied, might have psychological and behavioral effects during all life periods. Commonly definition of emotional neglect and abuse with other child abuse (especially physical abuse) together, result to give priority to o t her forms of abuse, as well as to prevent the identification and recognition of emotional abuse alone. Each well-child or patient visits is an opportunity to observe the relationship between child and caregivers and also to assess the strengths and weaknesses of parenting techniques. Health workers will be decisive and should be aware about this behavior related with emotional abuse. Especially in early childhood pediatricians are the most important people for determination and intervention of this situation. Suspected cases should be notified for potential child protection without a delay, accompanying of emotional abuse and neglect with other types of neglect and abuse should be kept in mind.
