Evaluating the effect of soil properties on the growth and productivity of white pine

2001
The most important soil properties affecting the growth and productivity of white pine (Pinus strobus L.) have been identified. Soil acidity, texture, bulk density, the reserves of exchangeable bases, and the content of physical clay have the most significant effect on the indices of growth and productivity of white pine stands. The optimum ecological niche for white pine stands has been determined to be on brown forest soils.
