Sealed in silicon: the power electronics revolution

1986
Development of power electronics - solid-state technology for the efficient handling of bulk electric power - stands at the point where integrated circuits did 30 years ago. Like their microelectronic counterparts, power electronics devices are expected to have a revolutionary effect, changing the way that electricity is generated, delivered, and used. The power electronics revolution is discussed.
