Correlação entre fitoquímica e atividades farmacológicas da Petiveria Alliacea L.

2021
Relate the metabolites present in the P. alliacea plant, with their pharmacological activities, through a systematic literature review. The review was consolidated through the Virtual Health Library (VHL), PubMed and Science Direct platforms with the descriptors: “Petiveria alliacea”, “ethnobotany” and “medicinal plant”, in Portuguese. As inclusion criteria: practical articles from the last 8 years (2012 to 2020), and as exclusion: replicas between platforms and activities that do not correlate with any metabolite. With the application of descriptors, 78 articles were found. After adopting the criteria, 10 articles were added, where 8 were adapted to compose the present study. In view of the analyzed data, it was observed that the majority used extracts from the leaves of the plant in solvents of different polarities. When using methanolic or ethanolic extractors, compounds with accentuated polarity were obtained. It is worth highlighting, the most discussed compound in the studies: dibenzyl trisulfide (DTS), related, then, with the antiparasitic activity, significant memory improvement and also antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antitumor activity. Finally, it is noted that different bioactives may have different activities and may also be related to the anatomical parts of the plant. The extraction method used also influences the amount and types of metabolites. However, more specific research with isolated substances is still needed to elucidate possible mechanisms of action involved.
