Isolation and identification of the chemical constituents from Rehmannia glutinosa L.

Objective To study the chemical constituents from Rehmannia glutinosa.Methods Compounds were isolated by chromatography on silica gel,Sephadex LH-20 and PHPLC.Their structures were confirmed on the basis of physico-chemical constants and spectroscopic analysis.Results Ten compounds were isolated and their structures were identified as 7-isoquinolinol(1),5-hydroxy-2-pyridinemethanol(2),6-methyl-3-pyridinol(3),salidroside(4),rehmanniosid C(5),rehmannioside A(6),adenosine(7),adenine(8),uridine(9)and β-sitosterol(10),respectively.Conclusions Compounds 1-4 are isolated from Rehmannia genus for the first time.
