Transmission Congestion Management Using Multi Objective Hybrid Flower Pollination and Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithm by Optimal Placement of TCSC

In this paper optimal placement and optimal sizing of TCSC has been carried out in deregulated environment. Locational Marginal Price (LMP) is defined as the price which must be paid by consumers to the service provider and it increases as network becomes congested. Therefore, during congestion the LMPs of the network becomes uneven and it creates huge loss for service providers. For this reason, congestion management problem becomes a challenging task and needs to be handled. In this paper Transmission Congestion Cost (TCC) has been used for determining best location of TCSC, while flower pollination and particle swarm optimization hybrid optimization has been used for optimal sizing of the device. Work is carried out on IEEE 30 bus transmission system and obtained results have been compared with evolutionary techniques (PSO, and FPA). This approach greatly handles the congestion management problem by minimizing differences in LMPs, congestion cost of the network and outperforms PSO and FPA based methodology in every context.
