Many-Body Effects and Multi-Mode Behaviour in Semiconductor Lasers

1992
Within a quantum theory of semiconductor lasers based on a kinetic description of the interacting carrier-photon system the influence of many-body and nonequilibrium effects is investigated. For the transient as well as steady state behaviour the lineshape of stimulated emission is discussed that reveals mode selection, mode pulling, and line narrowing, in connection with gain saturation and hole burning in the carrier kinetics
