Language for Scholars: A Communication Skills Building Program

Abstract In this article we discuss a communication skills building program Leap Learning Systems calls Language for Scholars (LFS), a program developed at the request of a not-for-profit agency in 1994 to help 8th grade urban students who had received scholarships to private high schools. The LFS program focuses on building classroom communication skills called Academic English.
