Time Domain EMS Nonlinear Analysis of a mm-Wave Diode with Application in 5G Technology

2021
Abstract A numerical method for the fully nonlinear distributed modeling of a mm-wave Schottky diode is presented. For electromagnetic susceptibility (EMS) study, the Schottky diode is modeled as a nonlinear transmission line (TL) excited by an incident electromagnetic field and analyzed using the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method. Since no analytical solution exists for the considered problem, the nonlinear differential equations are solved numerically. Finally, the time domain solution is used to study operation of the presented nonlinear model in both linear and nonlinear regime. Furthermore, the results are validated by a semi-distributed model using the ADS commercial software.
