What’s in a Name?: Examining Representation of Indian Ethnicities in Bollywood Movies in the New Millennium

Popular Bollywood movies have long influenced the construction of identity of an Indian to a global audience. However, to the internal audience, an Indian, in all her/his diverse splendor, is not the sum of all ethnic parts of the country. The ubiquity of the ethnic identity in India cannot be overstated. Neither can the importance of Bollywood cinema in the cultural spectrum of the country be discounted.
