Calculation of Electric Field Induced Currents on Human Bodys Under 1000kV UHV

2007
More and more attention is paying to the potential health and environmental effects of 1000kV Ultra-high voltage(UHV) overhead lines. The AC electric and magnetic field will induce currents on human bodies, and the currents cause harmful effects as the current density exceeds a given limit. How to specify the lowest height of the 1000kV overhead lines is the important aspects which have to be concerned at the design stage.According general criterion, the maximum electric field intensity at the point 1m high above ground can not be more than 10kV/m.As to UHV lines, the justification of this criterion need to be studied further. In this paper, effects of ultra-high voltage overhead lines electric field on human body standing under UHV lines are studied, the distribution of induced current density and the electric field intensity around human body are calculated. The parameters, such as conductivity and permittivity which affect the induced current are analyzed, the minimum safe height of 1000kV ultra-high voltage overhead lines is studied. The calculation results show that influence of conductance and permittivity of human body on the induced current is ignorable, and, the standards which is used to specify the lowest height of 500kV overhead lines is still available to the 1000kV ultra-high voltage overhead lines, that is to keep maximum the electric field intensity lower than 10kV/m at the 1 meter height above ground.
