INTEGRATED TECHNOLOGIES IN THE BIOMASS UTILIZATION

ABSTRACT The research groups cooperating within the frame of the BIO-PATH project are working on the utilization of the hemicellulosic part of the plant biomass. At the University of Veszprem the research work concentrated on the chemical conversion of the fibrous plant material. The authors of this paper aim to show a possible system for the integrated biomass utilization based on chemical and thermal conversion. It will be demonstrated by case studies, that a technology with only the main product can not be economical. The utilization of technological wastes is favorable not only from an economic but also from an environmental point of view.
