The K-dependence of the population of 182Os levels in the (p, 4n) and (α, 4n) reactions

Abstract The yields of low-lying 182 Os levels with different K quantum numbers have been measured in the 185 Re(p, 4n) 182 Os and 182 W(α, 4n) 182 Os reactions at E p = 31.5–54 MeV and E α = 42–45 MeV. A K -dependent isomeric yield ratio has been obtained as a function of the maximum angular momentum involved in the reaction, and is compared with a statistical-model prediction based on the K -distribution of the level density. An anomalous reduction of the high- K population is noted for the reactions accompanied with a large angular momentum.
