sustainable networks, co-evolution in business markets.Corporate social responsibility (CSR) stands high on the agendas of managers and
researchers. According to Lindgreen, Maon and Swaen 1 CSR has moved ‘from ideology
to reality.’ Especially in the field of supply chain management and purchasing, (large)
multinational companies are increasingly undertaking CSR initiatives, often under
pressure from different stakeholders. 2 As a result, most of them have defined codes of
conduct for their supply chain partners. Nevertheless, authors stress that only few of
them have actually been able to put these ethical standards fully into practice.3
