Magnetic fluid actuator

The paper presents a non-conventional actuator with magnetic fluid, generating low forces and very small displacements, controlled by an electric current. A comparative study of the two versions is performed by means of the transfer characteristics. The device might be used in the fine control of some small mechanisms (e.g., the blades of the pneumatic and hydraulic pressure amplifiers of a flapper-nozzle type).
