Strategy for designing mining systems in surface mines

The paper discusses the selection of optimum mining and haulage technology during the planning stage of surface mine development. Equipment for the mine must be the appropriate type and have the appropriate capacity for particular deposit conditions. General steps in surface mine planning are discussed. Schemes for preselecting mining variants are given. An algorithm developed for major stages of technological mine planning is explained. (22 refs.)
