Synthesis of 6-bromomethyl-substituted derivatives of pyridin-2(1H)-ones and their reaction with nucleophiles

6-Bromomethyl-substituted derivatives of pyridin-2(1H)-ones were obtained by the bromination of 6-methyl-3,4-dihydropyridin-2(1H)-ones, and are the basis for the synthesis of thieno- and furo[3,4-b]-pyridin-2(1H)-ones andalso for obtaining new amino derivatives in the pyridin-2(1H)-one series.
