Proper Names Retrieval

In this chapter, after an introduction in which we describe the psychological and neuropsychological literature concerning proper names retrieval, we review its neural correlates investigated by means of different methodologies. Neurosurgical reports are very limited in the case of proper name retrieval, in general describing long-distance effects, but an intraoperative monitoring is very seldom reported. We describe the suggested testing during intraoperative assessment, also in order to differentiate between face recognition and name retrieval deficits.
