Getting smarter across borders

In this article, the author examines issues associated with the evolution of smart ticketing, including the challenge to make contactless smartcards interoperable across travel modes and schemes. Highlighted is the work of the Smart Ticketing Alliance, which aims to offer an integrated and international option for end-to-end journey ticketing that supports interoperability while also offering a secure, flexible and future-proof system.
