El problema de la explicación de la conciencia en el naturalismo biológico de John Searle

2020
This paper assesses Searle’s account of the causal explanation of consciousness took by him as the key to the solution of the mind-body problem (section 2). After a discussion of Searle’s arguments against Thomas Nagel’s view of explanation (section 3), it is discussed the notion of necessity that is really relevant for a genuine explanation of whatever kind (secao 4). The conclusion is that the causal explanation conceived by Searle is too weak to succeed in solving the mind-body problem (section 5).
