Optimizing Collections Care: Configuring Preservation Strategies for Unique Art Library Collections

2015
AbstractAlthough a large number of resources are now available in digital environments and platforms, art libraries still hold countless materials that can be found only in the printed word and image. With so many paper-based research collections still in high demand in art and design libraries, maintenance, repair, and care continue to be a high priority. Without the support of trained preservation and conservation professionals and units, small libraries may find it difficult to care for their paper-based collections. This article examines how one art museum librarian developed a preservation program with in-house repairs to support collections care.
