Environmental applications (water)

2020
Abstract In this chapter we review different applications based on sorptive extractions in solid supports for the analysis of organic pollutants in environmental water samples. Among sorptive extractions, solid phase extraction, solid phase microextraction, stir-bar sorptive extraction, and microextraction by packed sorbent are the main techniques covered. We discuss the different applications of these techniques according to their physicochemical properties into four main groups of compounds (volatile, hydrophobic, moderately polar, and highly polar), since such properties have a clear impact on the methodology employed.
