THE COPENHAGEN PUBLIC TRANSPORT MASTER PLAN FOR 2010

1998
In June 1998, the 5 public transport companies and the 5 regional authorities of the Greater Copenhagen area presented a joint master-plan for improving public transport over the next 10 years. The target is to increase the number of trips made by public transport by more than 34%. The focus of the plan is to provide public transport passengers with a seamless journey from doorstep to doorstep. This means that apart form the planning process, safe journeys to stations and bus stops, easy accessibility, and not least well-planned interchange facilities are at the heart of the plan. Also urban planning policies and practices are being targeted. The master-plan outlines a wide range of concrete and binding plans. These include improvements in passenger information, interchange facilities, bicycle facilities in connection with public transport etc.
