Breast Cancer Detection Using Moment Preserving Algorithm

2018
Early diagnosis is an important factor to survive from breast cancer. The earliest detection signs of potential breast cancer can be distinguishable by current screening techniques is the presence of microcalcifications (MCs). MCs are small crystal calcium apatite and their normal size ranges from 0.1mm to 0.5mm single crystals to groups up to a few centimeters in diameter. They are the first indication of breast cancer in more than 40% of all breast cancer cases, making their diagnosis critical. This research proposes Moment Preserving technique for detecting and isolating point microcalcifications. This method is being applied on images to detect microcalcifications. This research also explains theory and algorithm related to Moment Preserving technique that can be used for early detection of breast cancer [1].
