Stars in the aisles: the history of the cinema usherette

This exhibition presented a display of photographs that highlighted the significance of the cinema usherette in the pleasure of 'going to the pictures' during the 1930s-1950s. It addresses both her role and, the lack of such studies within the academic framework of exhibition practice and cinema history. The exhibition complements the research project that Eva Balogh is working on.
