The TF40B Component Improvement Program

1995
The AlliedSignal TF40B engine is currently used on the U.S. Navy’s Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC) vehicle for main propulsion. The purpose of the TF40B Component Improvement Program (CIP) is to improve the engine’s performance, enhance reliability and reduce maintenance actions. This program has addressed areas of concern by selecting compressor coatings, improving main bearing seal performance, improving hot section coatings and improving combustor liner performance. This paper will review the progress to date of the CIP tasks with particular emphasis on the combustor liner modifications.Copyright © 1995 by ASME
