GRID-FRIENDLY CONTROL OF DISTRIBUTED PHOTOVOLTAIC GENERATION WITH BATTERY STORAGE

2014
As fossil fuel stores deplete and the state of the environment is in crisis, renewable energy technologies continually becomes a more popular option for electricity generation. This paper presents a control strategy to provide constant energy to a power grid from multiple distributed photovoltaic generators with battery storage. A battery is connected to the DC bus of each photovoltaic generator through a bi-directional DC-DC converter. With the help of the battery, the photovoltaic generator will deliver constant power to the main grid based on the grid requirements. The factors of solar irradiance level and battery capacity are considered for the design of the control method. The proposed control method is simulated and verified in MATLAB/Simulink.
