Interleaved Bidirectional DC-AC Converter for Electric Vehicle Charging Station

This paper proposes the usage of a three-phase interleaved bidirectional DC-AC converter for electric vehicle charging stations as the interface converter to the grid. The interleaved configuration reduces the power dissipated in each converter branch and the total harmonic distortion of the injected grid current once the ripple current is doubled. As the output of the converter is of current type the output inductance can be reduced using the leakage inductance of the distribution transformer. This converter is compared with the converter with L and LCL filters to show the viability of the proposal.
