VAR SİSTEMİNİN 2018-2019 SEZONU SÜPER LİG FUTBOL MAÇLARINA ETKİSİNİN DEĞERLENDİRİLMESİ

Football, which is one of the most important sport branches of the world, has been adopted and given attention by people and it has become an indispensable tool for countries in introducing and highlighting their culture. It is important for football, which has become a professionalised commercial source of income through becoming an industry over time, and therefore football matches, to be followed carefully and it is also important to analyse every detail of matches and to minimize errors. From this point VAR system, which is a product of the team work created with the support of digital platform and which is expected to help the referee during football matches, has been developed. In this context, retrospective study model, which is one of the subtitles of observational study, was used so that evaluations could be made on football matches played by using the VAR system in the study. The information obtained was discussed and interpreted in line with the purpose of the study. Accordingly, in addition to the views about and reflections of the system in the world and Turkey, the effects of VAR system on the matches played by 2018-2019 Turkey football super league teams were examined. According to the results obtained in the study, it can be said that mostly there is a consensus about the continuation of the system although VAR system has faced reactions partially in the world and Turkey. While it was found that Bursaspor was the team which lost the highest number of points as a result of being negatively affected by the decisions taken with VAR system in 2018-2019 Turkey football super league; Antalyaspor was not affected by VAR system in terms of points. In addition, thanks to the VAR system, Evkur Yeni Malatyaspor qualified for the European cups by getting a place in the top five rankings.
