Relieving modeling and simulation practises in geography and social sciences

2013
This work (Habilitation) traces back the scientific path of its author and helps contextualising it, shading light on his persistent involvement, as a geographer, in interdisciplinary projects and complex systems. Being interested in the relationship between structures and processes in the genesis and evolution of spatial systems, the author has been working on spatial mobility and some of its associated risks or negative externalities (accidents, pollution, noise, epidemic, congestion). In this perspective, modelling and simulation were systematically used as exploratory tools. This background helps understanding the persistent involvement of the author within interdisciplinary institutions, such as the European network S4, the Complex Systems Institute or the CNRS Lab Geographie-cites (CNRS-Paris1-Paris7).
