Sachbilanz für den Güterverkehr mit Binnenschiffen in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland

2000
The already realized and upcoming future emission limits for heavy duty truck diesel engines, for example from 15.8 g NO x /kWh in 1990 (Euro 0) to 5.0 g NO x /kWh in 2000 (Euro 3) and 3.5/2.0 g NO x /kWh in 2005/2008 (Euro 4/5), result in questions about today's and future realistic emission reduction potentials, emission limits and emission reduction measures also for inland vessels, as those are investigated insufficiently up to now. For NO x emissions of inland vessels with a rated engine power beyond 100 kW an emission limit of 15 g/kWh was set according to the Lake Constance navigation regulation (BSO) and reduced to 10 g/kWh in 1996. For other inland waterways no remarkable emission limits are know up to now. By employing the SCR (selective catalytic reduction) process for the reduction of exhaust gas emissions from marine diesel engines a NO x -reduction of up to 95% has been achieved. At the same time the SCR process enables a solution of the diesel dilemma, as well.
