Effect of Electric Acupoint Stimulation Intervention on Motor Function and Intelligence Development of Infants with Brain Injury

2008
Objective:To study the effect of electric acupoint stimulation intervention on motor function and intelligence development of infants with brain injury.Methods:Ninety-four infants with brain injuries were divided into two groups:electric stimulation intervention group(study group,64 cases)and non electric stimulation intervention group(control group,30 cases).Nervous system, intelligence development and mortor function were regularly studied by using the Developmental Diagnostic Scale of Children aged 0-6 years and Fine Motor Function Measure(FMFM).Usual physical examination and education were applied in the two groups. Results:Physical development was better and effective rate higher in study group than in control group, but there was no significant difference(P0.05);Development quotient(DQ)and FMFM scores in study group were higher than in control group(P0.05).Conclusion:The electric acupoint stimulation intervention could improve the prognosis of infants with brain injury, which was related with the triggering of the protective mechanism of the central nervous system.
