The invention relates to a stator (1) of an electric motor, having a polyphase stator winding (5), each phase (u, v, w) of a number of coils (5), each having first and second coil ends (6) and with a switching unit (7 ) having a number of contact wires (9) (for connecting these respective associated coil ends 6) a number (of curved contact hooks 13) having mutually spaced opposite wire legs (13a, 13b) which form in each case one connection opening (14) the associated coil end (6), wherein the respective contact wire (9) designed as a round wire and in the region of the contact hook (13) leg outside of the wire legs on the connection opening (14) facing away from (13a, 13b) to form a planar contact surface (15) for a welding electrode (17) is shaped flat.
