The title compound is a narcotic analgesic belonging to the 4 phenyl piperidine family. Its crystal structure has been investigated by X-ray diffraction in order to ascertain the molecular conformation and compare it to those of other derivatives of this family such as phenoperidine, meperidine and β-prodine.
