Reconfiguration of PTZ Camera Network with Minimum Resolution

2019
Optimal reconfiguration of Pan–Tilt–Zoom (PTZ) cameras is a challenging task to optimize visual coverage in complex indoor as well as outdoor environments. The proposed work is based on interior-point algorithm with considering the minimum resolution of each camera to increase the visible quality of the scene. In order to optimize the system performance, a camera network must be configured in terms of camera orientations. However, it is not certain that how a camera network must be configured for a given video camera network. In this work, a new constraint is added for camera resolution to configure the camera network so that the observed area can be monitored with best visible quality. A maximum value of the constraint is fixed based on the visual quality of the scene so that the camera can focus more on the scene and with this additional information, final optimal configuration of the camera network in terms of camera orientations is achieved.
