Caracterización de puntas de proyectil apedunculadas. Un aporte al poblamiento del centro-oeste de la provincia de Santa Cruz (Argentina)

2020
In the central-western sector of Santa Cruz province (Argentina), stemless projectiles points prevail from Early to Middle Holocene. This stemless morphology has been considered as an index fossil for chronological assignation in archaeological contexts. This work presents the characteristics of this projectile point design in different areas of the region under study. We analyze their spatial distribution, as well as the absolute and relative chronologies assigned to them, raw materials used in their manufacture and morphological aspects. These tips are heterogeneously distributed and are generally assigned to chronologies before 2000 years AP; they are manufactured mainly from black obsidian and their morphology is variable. The analysis of stemless projectile points allows discussing some aspects related to human peopling since the beginning of the Holocene and its subsequent timeline.
