Z-scheme g-C3N4 nanosheet/MgBi2O6 systems with the visible light response for impressive photocatalytic organic contaminants degradation

2021
Abstract In this research paper, we have constructed novel Z-scheme g-C3N4 nanosheet/MgBi2O6 systems with the visible light response for the photocatalytic elimination of cationic pollutants such as MB, RhB, anionic pollutants such as CR, MO, and also colorless pollutant such as phenol. The batch tests illustrated that the first-order kinetic constant of the amount-optimized nanocomposite of gCN-NS/MgBi2O6 with a mass ratio of 70:30 was 1337.84 × 10-4 min−1 in the degradation of RhB, which was 77.3-folds better than that of g-C3N4 alone. Moreover, using various quenchers, the scavenging test outcomes demonstrated that ⦁OH, ⦁O2−, and h+ have a remarkable role in the photocatalytic elimination process. The photostability of gCN-NS/MgBi2O6 system was studied over four consecutive cycles revealing good reusability and stability. Finally, according to the energy band matching theory, the mechanism of Z-scheme charges movement was also offered to boost different pollutants photoactivity. Our current work opens up new avenue for further research.
