Phytate or myo-inositol hexakisphosphate (IP6) is the principal phosphorus (P) storage form in plant seeds (Kemme et al., 1999). In typical maize and soya bean meal (SBM) based poultry diets, between 40 and 60% of total P is presented as phytate phosphorus (PP) (NRC, 1994; NRC, 2013).
