Estudio del perfil epidemiológico de pacientes fallecidos en siniestros de tránsito en el departamento de Montevideo, entre enero y diciembre del 2010.

Traffic accidents are one of the leading causes of preventable death among individuals under the age of 40. By means of a retrospective descriptive analysis of medical records and post-mortem examinations of 169 deaths which occurred in Montevideo between 1 January and 31 December 2010, the authors of this study reveal the epidemiological characteristics of the deceased persons. The highest number of deceased persons among the population that was the object of the study consisted of young, male motorcyclists who were not wearing helmets at the time of the crash, followed by pedestrians. Most of the crashes occurred at
