2018
In the Historical Archive of the Veterinary Faculty of Cordoba there is a le that collects copies of the titles of veterinarians of 1st and 2nd class and of albeitares that they exercised in the province of Cordoba in the year of 1876. It was answered in this way, by part of the subdelegates of the 15 judicial parties that made up the Cordoba province, to the order given on February 19 of that year, by the Civil Government of Cordoba. e le contains 88 titles, of which 27 are from albeitares, 17 from veterinarians from 1st class and 44 from veterinarians from 2nd class. Each document describes the nature of the graduate, his age, institution that issued the degree, degree reached, date obtained and the body that testies the copy of the title in 1876. Most of these copies, corresponding to the military, include also physical data identifying the professional, such as height, color of the eyes, skin and hair. Since 1851, on an annual basis, the civil governors requested the subdelegates of veterinary of the province the relationship of veterinarians and albeitares in exercise in each judicial party, in order to decide on questions of competence and professional qualication of those who exercised veterinary tasks. However, in these certicates of 1876, what was requested was not a mere relationship those professionals who performed these tasks, but copies of the titles that accredited them to practice the profession. It was intended to clarify the limits of the competences of each veterinary class and, above all, to oppose the claims of the graduates by the Free Veterinary Schools.
