This article presents the fundamental principles of the psychodramatic technique of mirroring in the context of clinical work and in coaching. It explains the basic idea of the mirror technique and illustrates the functions and goals that renowned psychodramatists have ascribed to this psychodramatic technique. The focus of the article is to show which forms of the mirror technique are applicable for which indications. In this way, it elucidates the special features of mirroring in both the individual and the group setting.
