ANTARCTIC LAKE DIVING WITH THE SEMI-CLOSED REBREATHER

The National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Re­ search (NIWA) is focused on providing a scientific basis for the sustainable management and development of New Zealand's atmospheric, marine, and freshwater systems and associated resources. NIWA has main­ tained an interest in shallow water fisheries and oceanographic research by using underwater divers since the late 195 Os and has kept in touch with current trends in underwater technology through joint programmes with British, Australian, and American institutions.
