Australian Transport Index thesaurus

This Thesaurus is designed to assist Australian librarians and researchers to access Australian and overseas literature on transport and roads. Preferred terms have largely been chosen to reflect Australian usage. Terms from the thesaurus are used when indexing the ‘Australian Transport Index’ (ATRI) database. This edition of the thesaurus is a revision of the 2004 ‘Thesaurus for the Australian Transport Index’ published by ARRB Group Ltd (ISBN 1-876592-37-0). As the origins of the Australian Transport Index were as a database of information on roads only, you will find that the Thesaurus has a concentration of terms relating to road-based transport issues. The addition of broader transport research terms and relationships over recent editions however, has greatly increased its coverage of non-road transport modes. In this 2007 edition, terms have been added and revised to address new sector developments and we thank NIS Members and other ATRI users for their feedback, which has been of great assistance to the continued relevance of this Thesaurus. As the Thesaurus is reviewed on a regular basis, comments, questions and suggestions are always welcome.
