Nuclear orientation WZYb in iron and gadolinium

We have investigated the angular distribution of el rays accompanying decay of WZYb nuclei oriented at low temperatures in gadolinium and iron. The sample of WZYbGd was obtained from decay of WZLuGd prepared by implantation and melting. The measured anisotropies of the el rays from decay of WZYbGd turned out to be small, indicating that the electric quadrupole interaction for Yb in Gd is comparable with the magnetic dipole interaction. The parameters of the mixing of multipolarities E2/M1 and M2/E1 have been determined for seven transitions of WZTm on the basis of measured values of the anisotropy of el rays from decay of WZYbFe.
