The effects of peeling equipment and drying on veneer quality of small diameter Eucalyptus
2012
Peeling of Eucalyptus urophylla×grandis with Spindle-less Lathes of type of BXQS1813A and BQK1813C, and veneer drying of six species of Eucalyptus were conducted and analyzed in this paper. The results showed that: the veneer quality by BQK1813C is much better than that by BXQS1813A. The veneer thickness' coefficient of variation decreased firstly and then increased in peeling process, and the influence of wood properties on veneer thickness was more evident than that of peeling equipment. The initial moisture content's coefficient of variation was not corresponding to its final MC's. The final moisture content's uniformity of the 6 species of small diameter eucalyptus was in the following sequence: E. cloeziana> E. urophylla×grandis > E. pellita > E. saligna > E. grandis > E. dunnii.
