Inorganic‐organic hybrid polymers from oligobutadiene and mercaptoalkylsilane

1998
The reaction of 3-(trimethoxysilyl)-1-propanethiol with oligobutadiene yielded modified oligomers that can be cross-linked by the sol-gel process. Properties of the materials can be varied in a wide range due to composition, reaction conditions and processing. The influence of the reaction conditions (H + -concentration, molar ratio silane:water, dilution, temperature) on hydrolysis and condensation and on the properties of the final material has been studied. These materials are obtained in the form of transparent films, stable in air up to 270°C.
