Use of flux screens in switched reluctance motors
1989
The authors explore the use of conducting screens to achieve a dynamic reduction in the effective minimum inductance of a switched reluctance (SR) motor by means of reactance-limited eddy currents. Several configurations of screen are examined, on both the rotor and the stator. Results calculated by finite-element analysis and dynamic simulation are compared with measurements made on a small SR motor. >
