THE IMPACT OF INTERVIEWER TRAINING AND INTERVIEW STRUCTURE ON THE RELIABILITY AND VALIDITY OF THE SELECTION INTERVIEW.

1975
A 2 x 2 posttest-only design was used to assess the effects of interview structure (structured versus unstructured) and interviewer training (training versus no training) on interrater reliability and validity. Student subjects (n=36) were randomly assigned to the four groups. To assess the effects, subjects and evaluated six videotaped employment interviews for the job of social worker. In the case of validity, none of the hypothesized structure, training, or structure x training effects was significant. Effects of the treatments on interrater reliability were somewhat equivocal. Possible explanations of the results, and implications for future research, were suggested.
