Carbon-Mineral Carriers for Active Pharmaceutical Substance

2019
The paper presents data on the synthesis and study of physical, chemical and biological properties of meso-, and macroporous carbon-mineral carriers based on mechanically strong aluminum oxide ( $(\boldsymbol{\gamma}$ -A1 2 0 3 ,) and carbon. Carriers with a carbon content of 7-10%, obtained at temperatures up to 700 °C, have a hydrophilic-hydrophobic nature of the surface and a specific surface area of up to 180 m2/g, and adsorption properties of carriers are estimated for the methylene blue dye up to 19 mg/g, and for the vitamin B12 up to 92 mg/g. Biological properties of carriers were evaluated by their effect on morphological and functional characteristics of red blood cells (RBC), which are the main blood cells and perform mainly transport and buffer functions. The study used the patient's blood before and after hip replacement surgery. Blood after surgery was passed through a glass column with carriers at a rate of 4 ml/min. The parameters of RBC were evaluated by scanning flow cytometry. The obtained results indicate a high informativeness of the method used to determine the parameters of RBC morphology and function. The morphology parameters of RBC include diameter, maximum and minimum thickness of cells, volume and surface area, sphericity index of the cell, spontaneous curvature of the membrane, hemoglobin concentration. The functional parameters include the number of active anion exchangers (band 3 proteins) and the ultimate extensibility of RBC membrane (stiffness to elasticity ratio). The best combination of parameters allows us to select a sample Al 2 O 3 @C 2 -700, obtained using an oxygen-containing organic substance as a carbon source.
