Research on Distribution and Conservation of Endangered Waterfowl in DaLai Lake Natural Reserve

The species and distribution of endangered waterfowl were studied in Dalai Lake nature reserve of Inner Mongolia from August 2006 to August 2007.The result showed: total of 20 endangered waterfowl species were observed and recorded,they were attributed to 13 genera,7 families,6 orders,14 species of them belong to I、II Nationally protected species,13 species of them were included in "China Red Data Book of Endangered Animals" and 10 species of them were included in "IUCN Red Data Book of Endangered Animals".The number of species is the highest in Wulan lake area among 4 study areas,which has 18 species and took 90% of the total,the lowest in Hulun ditch area,which has only 7 species and took 35% of the total.12 of the total are summer resident,8 are traveler,the crust-time of migration is from May to September.Up to now,the best strategy to protect is to protect and manage the present habitat effectively and reducing anthropogenic interference.
